121/366: 30th April 2016 Art Appreciation
Do you need to agree with an artist’s lifestyle or politics to appreciate their art? To spend money on it?
No to the first; yes to the second and here is my reasoning :
Firstly, each singular person is their own self not similar to any other person and how they think or behave doesn’t have to reflect on what they produce. Example would be a drug addict that produces songs about positivity of life. There are some even produce art that depicts a dark side but in reality the person is one positive maniac.
Art is by its own and each person view the art on their own perspective and shouldn’t take it personal to the producer of the art because the work is based on the specialty strengths of the producer. For example, I don’t really like a particular artist but I kind of like some of the songs.
However appreciating their art does not necessarily supporting them completely. If the person who produces the art happens to be funding a bad society, why purchase and support, correct?
In conclusion, I appreciate ALL kinds of art but I don’t necessarily spend on them.
