Fun Facts Series #6:25

Singapore Geography Facts:

Singapore is situated very close to the Equator.

What is its distance from the Equator at its closest point?

First lets get to know what is the Equator, the Earth’s equator is n imaginary line on the Earth’s surface separating the north and south of the Earth.

We also know that the nearer you are to the Equator just like our country Singapore, the hotter it is. Those with four seasons are the ones a bit further but not like the poles, which are forever colder and lets hope the poles stays that way despite the awareness of Global Warming melting the ice at the poles.

Back to the question: Singapore is situated very close to the Equator. What is its distance from the Equator at its closest point?

Answer: Singapore is 1 degree north of the equator, which is about 137km to its closest point. The also reason why Singapore is constantly warm and wet.

Well I am happy that I lived here, I don’t mind the weather and take this as a blessing that I only get to have 2 climates of hot, rain or both humid. Not forgetting the haze though but at least it is better today and hopefully the hazy season stops soon.
